Deforestation can include the conversion of forest land to farms, ranches, or urban uses. Most deforestation occurs in tropical rainforests. Currently, approximately 31% of the Earth's surface is covered by forests. This is less than a third of the forest cover before agricultural expansion, with half of this loss occurring in the last century.

Between 15 million and 18 million hectares of forests, an area the size of Bangladesh, are destroyed every year. An average of 2,400 trees are cut every minute. You can help stop this.
